Area Information

Arnos Grove is a peaceful and popular residential area located in the southwest corner of the London Borough of Enfield. The area itself sits between Bounds Green and Southgate at the western end of Bowes Road.

There is an excellent selection of amenities available to people living in Arnos Grove. This includes a wide range of cafes, restaurants, supermarkets, shops and pubs. There is also a local swimming pool, a public library and the historic lawns of Arnos Park, a remnant of the Arnos Grove Estate, which dates back to the 14th century.

Until the 1930s, Arnos Grove was largely undeveloped and was more of a rural part of London. The area later saw an increase in property development following the opening of the Arnos Grove tube station in 1932, although many of the new houses were damaged during World War II. However, the area’s close proximity to the North Circular road (built in 1929), as well as the addition of the Arnos Grove tube station has made the area a desirable place to live.

Many of the properties that were damaged during the war were redeveloped during the 1950s and 1960s thanks to social housing projects and other initiatives. Most of the remaining space was then used up in the most recent property boom. The new properties were attractive to many people across London and from outside the city. These homes were mostly sold to commuters and investors who sought to take advantage of the lovely local area and the relatively quick commuting time to Central London.

In October 2007 Arnos Grove Tube Station was featured alongside the Sydney Opera House and the Empire State Building on the Guardian’s list of 12 Great Modern Buildings. The Guardian's architecture critic, Jonathan Glancey, commented 'Arnos Grove station … was designed not simply to please a wealthy elite, but as a modern fanfare for the common man.’

We currently have a great selection of homes available to buy and let in Arnos Grove.
