Area Information

Often referred to as the jewel in north London, Palmers Green is a popular area for first time buyers and is notable for its high level of private rented accommodation. With similar attributes to the neighbouring areas Southgate and Winchmore Hill, Palmers Green is generally more affordable. It’s a popular area for families.

On the west side of the area is the sought after Lakes Estate offering a large selection of Edwardian properties, many of which are now converted.

At its heart lies the 54-acre Broomfield Park. The park has plenty of green space, lakes, a model boating pond, a baroque water garden, a bandstand, a community orchard and a restored Victorian conservatory. Central to the park is Broomfield house, which was once used by James I as a hunting lodge. Badly damaged by fires 20 years ago, a restoration campaign is actively seeking funding to bring Broomfield house back to its former glory.

With a vibrant community spirit, there are plenty of active local community groups. There’s a well-supported Farmers’ Market in the train station car park every Sunday morning selling predominantly fresh locally grown food, along with crafts and bric-a-brac.
Palmers Green mainline station is situated on Aldermans Hill and runs services to Moorgate (26 minutes). There’s also a service to Kings Cross at weekends. The nearest tube station is Southgate (Piccadilly Line; its 34 minutes to Leicester Square). There are a good supply of buses going to Enfield Town and Wood Green.
